Alabama State Senator Keith Kelley has officially announced that he is running for re-election to a second term in the State Senate.

In his first run for office in 2022, he overcame a competitive GOP primary bid to represent State Senate District 12, which includes parts of Calhoun and Talladega counties.

On Wednesday, he pledged to continue his record of “conservative, faith-driven leadership focused on lowering costs, strengthening families, and protecting Alabama communities.”

“I ran for the Senate because I felt called to serve — and that calling is stronger today than ever,” Kelley (R-Anniston) said.

“I’ve seen what principled leadership can accomplish when it’s rooted in faith, common sense, and hard work. I’m running again because Alabama families still need a senator who will stand firm and deliver results.”

In his campaign announcement, Kelley says he passed legislation during his first term that is making a direct impact on everyday life across Calhoun and Talladega counties.

He pointed to multiple cuts to the state’s grocery sales tax, the Houston Hunter Act, which he sponsored and passed in 2024, to create a voluntary firearm safekeeping program to support veterans and first responders in crisis in a constitutional-compliant way.

Kelley also secured local oversight of halfway houses in Calhoun County, strengthened public safety laws, and supported record investments in education, including teacher pay raises, weighted funding for special-needs students, expanded school choice, and workforce training programs designed to prepare young Alabamians for good-paying jobs.

“I believe government should work for the people, not against them,” Kelley said. “That means cutting taxes, protecting parental rights, standing with law enforcement and veterans, and creating an environment where small businesses and rural communities can thrive.”

Kelley said his re-election campaign will focus on three priorities: protecting families and children, expanding economic opportunity and job growth — particularly in rural Alabama — and strengthening public safety and property rights.

Senate District 12 is a strongly conservative district, and Kelley said voters consistently tell him they want results, not rhetoric. He emphasized his accessibility and presence in the community as central to his approach to leadership.

“I show up. I listen. And I follow through,” Kelley said. “That’s how I’ve served, and that’s how I’ll continue to serve.”

Keith Kelley represents Alabama Senate District 12, which includes communities in Calhoun and Talladega counties, including Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville, Sylacauga, Piedmont, and surrounding areas.
