5 DAYS REMAINING IN THE 2024 ALABAMA LEGISLATIVE SESSION

State Sen. Donnie Chesteen’s reelection campaign endorsed by Alabama Forestry Association

The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) on Monday announced its endorsement of State Sen. Donnie Chesteen (R-Geneva) in his reelection bid for the Alabama State Senate, District 29.

Chesteen is a lifelong resident of Geneva County and a graduate of Troy University. He formerly served as head football coach and athletic director at Geneva High School.

Prior to his election to the legislature’s upper chamber, Chesteen served two terms in the Alabama House of Representatives, first being elected in 2010.

In announcing Chesteen’s endorsement, AFA president and CEO Chris Isaacson praised the senator’s defense of “conservative principles.”

“Donnie has done a remarkable job defending the conservative principles that the people of his district value,” proclaimed Isaacson. “He is committed to protecting and improving the business, legal and regulatory environment in our state for all Alabamians. We are proud to support him in his bid for reelection.”

AFA asserted that Chesteen had supported efforts to strengthen the state’s infrastructure and said that he is an advocate for policies that are friendly to the business community. Chesteen sits on the Senate Agriculture and Forestry Committee and is vice chairman of the Senate Education Policy Committee.

Chesteen expressed gratitude to the AFA over its endorsement of his reelection campaign.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association, and I’m grateful to have their support in my efforts to reflect the conservative voices of those in my district,” Chesteen said. “I look forward to working with AFA over the next four years as they continue their commitment to supporting the forestry in Alabama.”

Senate District 29 covers Dale, Geneva and Houston Counties. The primary election will occur on May 24, 2022.
