State Rep. Randy Wood, one of the longest serving Republican members of the Alabama House of Representatives, announced he is officially running for re-election in 2026.
Wood has represented HD36, including portions of Calhoun, St. Clair, and Talladega Counties, since 2002.
According to Wood, he’s built a strong record of conservative leadership and dedication to Alabama families.
“It has been a honor to represent the hardworking people of District 36. Together, we’ve made great progress for our communities,” Wood (R-Anniston) said.
“We are very fortunate in the State of Alabama to have the funds that we have in the general fund and the education trust fund budget. These monies directly impact the communities and schools we serve,” Wood added.
“But our work isn’t finished. I’m running for reelection to continue standing up for the people of Alabama and ensuring our state remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”
The East Alabama lawmaker also said he has been a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility, economic growth, strong schools, Alabama veterans, and support for law enforcement.
Before being elected to the Alabama House, Wood served on the Calhoun County Commission from 1998 to 2002 and built his career as a small-business owner. A graduate of Saks High School and Southern Union College, he owns Wood’s Auto Body Shop in Anniston.
He served six years in the Alabama National Guard and is a former Deputy with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Wood currently serves on key House committees including Economic Development and Tourism, Military and Veterans Affairs, and the powerful Rules Committee, which controls what legislation reaches the House floor.
He’ll be on the ballot again for a seventh term in the May 19, 2026 Alabama Republican Party primary election.
His campaign invited residents of HD36 to, “join the movement to Keep Alabama Strong by supporting Randy Wood’s re-election in 2026.”
