State Rep. Parker Moore (R-Decatur) was been appointed to the Alabama Joint Transportation Committee. The lawmaker received notice of his appointment in a letter this week from Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter. He will begin his new role as soon as a vacancy on the committee is created.
“It is an honor to be appointed to the Joint Transportation Committee,” Rep. Moore said. I am grateful for Speaker Ledbetter’s trust in me for this position, and I am looking forward to working with my colleagues to improve, invest, and innovate Alabama’s transportation system.”
Moore, who represents District 4, was first sworn into the Alabama House in 2018. In 2023, he was assigned to the Transportation, Utilities, and Infrastructure Committee.
The Joint Transportation Committee consists of 13 state senators appointed by the President of the Senate and 13 House Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House. It reviews Department of Transportation plans as well as its budget, allocates funding for infrastructure projects across the state, and recommends necessary funding for possible projects to the Governor.
