Travelers flying between Birmingham and Nashville are about to be in luck.

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport announced on social media that Southwest Airlines will add a second daily nonstop flight between Birmingham and Nashville beginning in April 2026, expanding service on one of the airport’s most popular regional routes.

Southwest already operates one daily nonstop service between Birmingham and Music City, but the additional flight will increase scheduling flexibility for travelers while strengthening air connectivity between the two Southern hubs.

The Nashville route was first introduced as a test market in fall 2024 before becoming an official destination from Birmingham later that year. Airport officials have cited steady demand for the route as part of broader passenger growth at BHM.

The expansion is part of Southwest’s continued investment in Birmingham, where the airline has added new nonstop destinations and increased frequencies in recent years.
