Snake, not TVA, responsible for power outage

One snake’s curiosity led to a widespread power outage Wednesday that affected thousands of Alabamians.

The Marshall Dekalb Electric Cooperative announced their first thought suggested a problem on the Tennessee Valley Authority’s end.

Crew members from the MDEC were surprised to find a large intruder on their primary substation in Albertville.

“We located the problem and thought we would share with our members,” the MDEC wrote.

The snake cut the power, but the power won. Crews were able to quickly get electricity running midday.
