Senator Jeff Sessions issued a “critical alert” over what he says is a potentially record-shattering number of illegal immigrants crossing American borders. According to a new report released by his office, more than 800,000 undocumented individuals entered the country last year.

The Alabama Senator finds that renewed talks of amnesty are attracting more aliens into the United States than ever before. Sessions says it’s a dire problem that’s made worse because the mainstream media fails to provide necessary news coverage.

“There is a crisis at our southwest border, one that in many ways exceeds the crisis we saw just two years ago, one that further undermines the integrity of our immigration system, but one that the most of the media has elected to ignore,” Sessions said.

Sessions cited a report from Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council, which states that for every illegal alien detained, one manages to avoid authorities. It’s a number that the Department of Homeland Security has acknowledged internally, but refuses to release to the public.

He added that millions of workers also enter the country, and large numbers do not return to their nation of origin as promised. That includes a reported 527,127 in 2015 alone.

Sessions continues to serve as one of Donald Trump’s leading advisors on immigration policy. He stated that new leadership is necessary for America to reverse course.

“The integrity of our immigration system and our national sovereignty require a real change in enforcement,” Sessions said. “The future of our nation depends on strong, secure borders, and a President willing to enforce our laws. Without a commitment to deport aliens who violate our immigration laws, we lose our ability to protect our communities from criminal aliens, terrorism, and cartel-related crime and violence.”

“One thing is clear, establishing a lawful system of immigration is absolutely doable. With strong leadership, these failed policies can be ended,” he added.
