Sen. Britt secures $2 million grant for Atmore Community Hospital

Atmore Community Hospital will soon receive critical medical equipment thanks to a $2 million congressionally directed spending grant secured by U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Montgomery).

“Health care is critical for the wellbeing of Alabamians across our great state, and modernized equipment is key to providing the best care for patients,” said Britt, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. “As a daughter of rural Alabama, I understand that every community has different needs, which is why I worked to ensure Atmore Community Hospital received $2 million to procure equipment that will help bolster the care they provide.”

“I’m proud to have secured these funds during the 2024 Appropriations process, and I look forward to continuing my work on the committee to invest further into our families, our state, and our future.” Legislation providing the funding, the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, was enacted in late March. Britt voted in favor of the bill.

The award was formally announced by the Department of Health & Human Services this week. In addition to the Atmore Community Hospital grant, Britt has worked tirelessly to provide millions in funding to support medical services throughout Alabama.

The Senator has also helped to secure $2.6 million for the Helen Keller Hospital to replace generators and help more Alabamians receive high-quality medical care. Additionally, she recently worked to allocate over $3.9 million to the City of Talladega for support of rural emergency services. Britt also managed to secure $2.5 million in directed spending for the Huntsville Hospital Health System to purchase additional ambulances.
