See how DeBoer is keeping Saban’s rat trap philosophy alive ahead of Vandy game

The Alabama Crimson Tide earned their biggest win of the season over the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night in what some were saying was one of the best SEC football games over the last 20 years.

As a result of the victory, the Tide moved up to No. 1 in the AP Poll for the first time since 2022, but head coach Kalen DeBoer isn’t letting the media hype get to the team’s head as they get set this week to take a road trip to Vanderbilt.

Around the facility on Monday afternoon, local Tuscaloosa media noticed rodent traps set up around the facility in an obvious nod to Nick Saban’s iconic ‘rat poison’ quip:

DeBoer has obviously put his own stamp on the program and is doing things his own way — but there are elements of the old guard still present in his philosophies. As the team gets set to head to Vanderbilt in what would be easy for players to think is a game they could cruise to victory even with a B- type game, it’s a reminder from their new head coach of the things that made their old head coach great.

Alabama will face the Commodores in Nashville at 3:15 p.m. CST on Saturday afternoon.
