New numbers have been revealed as to how well funded each school’s collective is, and the numbers are absolutely staggering.
To no one’s surprise, the collective of the Texas Longhorns is leading the way. The Texas One Fund, according to NCAA estimates has $22.2 million, leading not just the SEC but the entire country. Interestingly, the second place school does not come from the SEC.
Ohio State, who was incredibly active in the last transfer portal cycle which NIL obviously plays a huge factor, has a collective funding of $20.2 million. The next three schools after Ohio State all came from the SEC, but it might not be who you think.
LSU was the only other school to top $20 million, coming in just behind Ohio State with $20.1 million. Behind the Tigers was Georgia with $18.3 million and Texas A&M with $17.2 million.
Michigan was next with $16.3 million, but the next one came as a huge surprise with how low on the list they were. Despite being the premiere program in college football over the last 20 years, the Alabama Crimson Tide are just the No. 7 best funded NIL collective with $15.9 million. Auburn was much further down the list with $11.6 million.
Also noteworthy is how highly the Clemson Tigers ranked. Despite head coach Dabo Swinney’s open disdain for the transfer portal and resistance to moving to an NIL-based recruiting model, his program is extremely well funded. The Tigers came in narrowly behind Alabama and Florida ($15.7 million) with $15.2 million.
It’s certainly a new era in college football, and the schools who are funded the best and show a serious financial commitment to NIL are going to be the most successful programs.
