SEC analyst calls Auburn ‘the safest job’ of all open positions within conference

Fans in the SEC are having to brace for what looks like will be the craziest coaching carousel in some time, especially in the conference.

With four massive jobs already open in LSU, Florida, Auburn and Arkansas with potentially more to come depending on who hires who and who gets relieved of their duties, things are not going to slow down in the SEC when the season comes to a close.

It can be debated which of the currently open jobs is the best, but SEC network analyst Peter Burns believes that title belongs to the Auburn Tigers. During a recent appearance on The Next Round, Burns rounded off all the reasons why he believes perspective head coaching targets should be most attracted to The Plains.

“When you talk about alignment, what you know you’re going to get, not dealing with the power brokers, one athletic director making the call, a president that’s always aligned,” Burns said about Auburn when asked about previous comments where he called it the best job.

“The fact that the last two hires were such a disaster that the bar is set so low for Auburn football to be damn good…There still feels like a level of dysfunction at Florida, there’s absolutely dysfunction over at LSU…so I never thought I’d say this but Auburn is probably the best job, the safest job, of all of those.”

Whether or not coaches feel the same remains to be seen, but there’s no question that the Tigers will be competing with both LSU and Florida as well as to a lesser degree Arkansas for their next head coach. Time will tell who gets the best end of the deal.
