Scott Cochran, Alabama football icon, resigns coaching position at Georgia

Former Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran has resigned from his position at the University of Georgia, according to a report from Anthony Dasher.

Cochran was hired from Alabama to Georgia by Kirby Smart before the 2020 season to be the Bulldogs’ special teams coordinator.

Cochran was on Nick Saban’s staff since the beginning of Saban’s time in Tuscaloosa all the way through 2019.

He was popular among fans and players due to his over-the-top personality — something that many suspect was a huge part of the mentality that Alabama went into every game with.

Cochran took a leave from the Georgia program in 2021, later saying he was battling several addictions, but he posted in July that he was celebrating two full years of sobriety.

He also worked under Saban at LSU from 2001-2004.

According to a post from the University of Georgia, Cochran is reportedly resigning to “pursue other opportunities.”

Whether or not he would be a fit still at Alabama is a question, but what isn’t a question was Cochran’s mega-admiration from both fans and players within the program.
