Sankey refuses to speak on UGA pass interference: ‘We don’t comment on judgment calls’

It was the call – or lack thereof – heard around the world in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night when Georgia got away with one of the more egregious pass interference penalties late in their win over Alabama.

Despite just about everyone – Bulldogs fans included – agreeing that a flag should have been thrown, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey refused to give his honest thoughts while meeting with media this week.

“We don’t comment on judgment calls,” Sankey said. “There are going to be tough calls that happen, and we want to get every one right. And I mean that literally but it’s a dynamic game with 22 players.”

While it’s clear that Sankey is admitting that not every call is going to be the correct one, him stopping short of criticizing officials for missing a call which was completely obvious to everyone is only going to frustrate fans further.

At the end of the day, no matter what team you root for, most can agree officiating is in a very bad spot across the sport right now.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t seem like Sankey is hasty to address what everyone has been bent out of shape over.
