Samford University releases annual report highlighting school’s success, breaks first year student enrollment record

Samford University is continuing its tradition of academic success and growth.

The Birmingham-based private college, founded in 1841, recently released its annual comprehensive report detailing student data, personal experiences, and accomplishments for 2023.

“At Samford University, we pursue both faith and future,” said President Beck A. Taylor. “Here students are well prepared for their career passions to meet the unique purpose God has planned for them.”

“Today we’re offering even more robust educational opportunities that carry our graduates and mission to new heights around the world.”

“In 2023, our students success, their commitment to excellence was there for all to see whether in the classroom, on the stage in academic competitions, or on the fields of play Samford students showed dedication, and Samford is dedicated to our students faithful to deliver exceptional campus experiences by providing enhanced facilities, innovative academic opportunities, and sacred moments to make a community impact during their Samford journey.”

The largest indicator of the school’s continued growth, according to the report, maybe the record breaking enrollment for first year college students that occurred in Fall of 2023. That single semester saw 1,080 new students enroll at Samford. Even with that rapid growth the university still boasts a 14:1 student to faculty ratio.

In addition, the university has experienced 15 years of consecutive record undergraduate enrollment. In 2023, the school’s overall enrollment was 5,791 students.

A Wall Street Journal article cited in the report, also indicated that Samford is ranked 10th among colleges and universities in the country for the quality of career preparation and has a 98% NCAA Division 1 graduation success rate.
