Roby Set to Return from Afghanistan

U.S. Congressman Martha Roby Alabama 2nd Yellowhammer Politics

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Martha Roby is presently on her way back from Afghanistan today, where she spent time with U.S. military forces in and around Kabul and Kandahar.
Roby led a Congressional Delegation (CODEL) of five House members overseas to observe U.S. military operations, receive briefings about NATO activities, and evaluate the contributions, efforts, and concerns of local Afghani women.

Tonight, Roby and members of the CODEL are in Bahrain, home of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet. There they will receive an update on Israel and Iran before they return stateside.

“Rep. Roby is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, which has oversight responsibilities over the U.S. military,” said Brecke Latham, Roby’s Communications Director. “She takes those responsibilities seriously, and was eager to return to Afghanistan to evaluate our progress there. She looks forward to returning to Alabama to share her observations with her constituents.”

Earlier today, Roby took part in a lunch with troops from Alabama deployed to Afghanistan, including one soldier from Enterprise. While in the country, Roby distributed more than 200 handmade cards to U.S. troops. The cards were authored and illustrated by schoolchildren throughout Alabama’s Second Congressional District.

Roby’s return marks her second trip to Afghanistan.
