Robert Aderholt: Trump’s rescission package will ‘restore the integrity our nation has long stood for’

(Congressman Robert Aderholt)

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) is showing his support for President Donald Trump’s rescission package, which would codify a portion of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts.

President Donald Trump sent members of Congress a request last week to cut $9.4 million in approved spending. The package includes cuts to Public Broadcasting and foreign aid.

Aderholt spoke about the measure in front of the U.S. House Rules Committee on Tuesday.

“Waste, fraud, and abuse is what this is all about,” Aderholt said. “We’re hearing examples from the other side that I think have been totally taken out of context. America has saved lives across the world, we all agree with that, and we will continue to do that.”

The Congressman believes the rescinding package will help America’s standing around the world.

“I think that anyone who’s concerned about U.S. foreign policy in this country should support this,” he argued, “because rescinding these funds will help restore the integrity that we have had as a nation and our image abroad.”

Aderholt said the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies have been criticized by foreign countries.

“It is these polarizing policies, including the DEI, that have undermined our image around the world. I have talked to members of Parliament around the world, and they are very concerned about what was happening in the last administration, and this administration should go down a different path.”
