The Republican National Committee has released its newest policy platform ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election. Two of the goals featured in the RNC document are the creation of a pro-cryptocurrency environment nationwide and the protection of citizens from a central bank digital currency.
“Republicans will end Democrats’ unlawful and un-American crypto crackdown and oppose the creation of a central bank digital currency,” the document stated. “We will defend the right to mine Bitcoin, ensure every American has the right to self-custody their digital assets, and transact free from government surveillance and control.”
Former President Donald Trump, has recently shifted from a cautious stance regarding cryptocurrency to fully embracing it, even accepting crypto donations for his campaign. Trump, no stranger to digital assets, created his own branded non-fungible tokens years ago.
Additionally, the former president has expressed his firm opposition to central bank digital currencies, believing that they would increase unwarranted surveillance of everyday Americans.

In Alabama, State Rep. Mike Shaw (R-Hoover) introduced a bill last legislative session that would prohibit the state from restricting the use or storage of digital assets, levying additional taxes on digital assets, restricting digital asset mining, or enacting zoning or noise restrictions specific to digital asset mining.
“My main concern is making sure that Alabama is a blockchain-friendly state, not just a Bitcoin-friendly state, because it can be used for lots of things,” Rep. Shaw said recently. “So I don’t know what the future is for specific currencies or if they’ll ever be used as Bitcoin will, but we want the state to be friendly to the technology. So whatever happens, we’ll be at the forefront of making that happen.”
“It has a lot of implications for personal liberty and financial freedom, but also has economic development implications.”
