Alabama native and award-winning country music artist Riley Green is expanding his career into television, marking his acting debut in “Yellowstone” spinoff “Marshals,” the upcoming CBS drama.

Green will appear in multiple episodes of the series, portraying Garrett, a former Navy SEAL who arrives at a Montana ranch seeking support from friends while confronting the emotional weight of his past. The series follows Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, as he joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit tasked with delivering justice across Montana while balancing family responsibilities and the psychological toll of serving on the front lines of law enforcement, according to Variety.

In a statement to Variety, Green said he was excited to join the cast and described the experience as a meaningful introduction to acting, especially working alongside Grimes, whom he called a friend.

Green’s journey to national recognition began in Jacksonville, Alabama, where he was born Oct. 18, 1988. Green grew up immersed in traditional country music through his grandfather, Buford Green, founder of the Golden Saw Music Hall. There, Green was introduced to country, bluegrass, and Southern gospel music and gained early experience performing with local musicians.

Green attended Jacksonville State University, where he played quarterback, further strengthening his connection to his hometown and Alabama roots, Country 103.7 reported.

Despite his national success, Green remains closely tied to Alabama. He still frequently returns home and lives on a ranch near Jacksonville, drawing inspiration from his upbringing and rural surroundings.

Before achieving commercial success, Green performed in local bars and restaurants and worked construction jobs while building his music career. He later signed with Big Machine Label Group in 2018 and released his debut single, “There Was This Girl,” helping launch his rise in country music.

Green’s Alabama heritage remains central to his identity and music, particularly in his song “Bury Me In Dixie,” which pays tribute to the state and references Alabama landmarks and communities.

“Marshals” is scheduled to premiere March 1 on CBS, marking a significant new chapter for the Jacksonville native as he brings his Alabama roots to a national television audience.
