Rep. Dale Strong selected to serve on House Appropriations Committee

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong has been chosen by House Republican leadership to become a member of the influential House Appropriations Committee. Strong will be the first Republican to represent Alabama’s 5th Congressional District on the Committee.

“Alabama has a decades-spanning history of powerful service on the Appropriations Committee,” said Strong (R-Monrovia) in a statement announcing the news. “This assignment ensures our state’s historical influence on how federal dollars are spent continues.”

“It’s past time we put America First. Those who serve on this committee are not seeking to be popular and are willing to take the tough votes to save America for future generations. Chairman Tom Cole understands the changes that must be made, and I am honored to serve alongside him. Our time is now!”

Cole (R-OK), Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, has welcomed Strong and spoke highly of his qualifications built on decades of public service.

“His leadership in local government and lifelong commitment to public service uniquely position him for this role. I believe he will be a valuable asset to the Committee as we work to restore conservative ideals and responsibly fund the federal government.”

The Appropriations Committee has primary influence over federal spending. The committee oversees all discretionary spending and reviews how federal tax dollars are spent.

The House Republican Conference will formally ratify the Steering Committee’s recommendations in the coming days.

Upon entering Congress in January 2023, Strong (R-Monrovia) received three high-profile committee assignments to the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Science, Space, and Technology.
