Rep. Carl: A government that’s accountable

When House Republicans win back the majority in a few short weeks, we will quickly work to ensure our government is accountable to all Americans.

Since the first day I took office, I’ve been fighting this fight because it’s absolutely critical for us to preserve a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Unfortunately, nearly all our efforts have been completely blocked by the Democrats. Those
days are coming to an end very soon, though.

A House Republican majority will fight to preserve our Constitutional rights, which include upholding freedom of speech, protecting the lives of unborn children and their mothers, guaranteeing religious freedom for all, and defending the Second Amendment. I

have cosponsored well over a dozen pro-life bills, and I have cosponsored numerous bills to make sure law-abiding Americans are not stripped of their right to bear arms. These are some of our most fundamental rights, and we cannot allow them to be trampled.

We will also hold the Biden administration accountable by conducting tough oversight to rein in government abuse and corruption. This will provide the American people with transparency and ensure everyone that their government is working FOR them instead of AGAINST them.

I’ve already introduced several bills to hold our government accountable. I’ve introduced a bill to identify and cut wasteful spending in government programs, a bill to fire bureaucrats who refuse to show up to work, and a bill to strip bureaucrats (like Dr. Fauci) of their pension if they are found to have knowingly and willingly lied to the American people.

Finally, we will maintain a government of the people, by the people. This means ending special treatment for members of Congress who refuse to show up to vote in Washington and work for their constituents.

It also means increasing the accountability in our election process by requiring voter ID, keeping accurate voter rolls, and ensuring observers have access to seeing ballots counted. I’m a proud cosponsor of the American Confidence in Elections Act, which would restore integrity and strength to our elections. Without free and fair elections, nothing else matters.

Some of the things I’ve seen over the last two years have been unbelievable. Democrats have worked around the clock to spend trillions of wasteful dollars to do things like hire an army of 87,000 IRS agents to audit the middle class, while doing nothing to investigate the origins of COVID-19 or Biden’s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal.

Enough is enough, and now is the time to restore some common sense and accountability to our government. That is our commitment to the American people.
