U.S. Rep. Barry Moore touched on topics from illegal immigration and fentanyl trafficking to the dependence on Chinese imports and assault on Title IX at a town hall meeting Monday in Fairhope. Prior to delivering his remarks, Moore (R-Enterprise) reviewed his expected talking points with WKRG 5. Moore first discussed the lack of order at the southern border.
“I think we need a wall, but we need a door, but they need to come through here the right way, not just pouring across all the drugs and the children and the things that we’re seeing that are just destroying communities,” Moore said. He is also in favor of an effort to shut down drug production sites.
“If the cartel still has a market for that and they can still get it across, then you look at destroying the labs.”
Title IX, according to the congressman, is based on pragmatic logic that is under attack.
“Title IX was to protect girls’ sports, right?” Moore said. “To say the law is to protect women, but you can’t define what a woman is, that when you begin to undermine… We have to get back to common sense right and wrong.”

Moore then emphasized the need for the U.S. to not be reliant on China, especially in the production of goods.
“America does not need to be dependent on one of our biggest enemies globally. The fact that their economy is slowing does hurt my feelings a bit, but I think we need to look at ways to bring production back here to the U.S.”
“We learned one thing from COVID, we do not need to be dependent on foreign countries for our energy or for our medicines.”
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall also spoke about Title IX and immigration at the event. The meeting was organized by Moms for Liberty.
