Rep. Barry Moore: From the border to the ballot box

This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released statistics revealing that the Biden-Harris Administration released more than 425,000 convicted criminals into our country this year. This includes 13,000 murderers and nearly 16,000 sex offenders.

American families do not support the invasion this Administration has allowed into our country. In July, a Gallup poll found that 55 percent of Americans want to sharply curb immigration levels.

Unfortunately, not only does the Biden-Harris Administration want to allow more illegals into our country, they also want them to vote.

Last week, a “coding error” permitted nearly 200,000 Arizonans to vote without proof of citizenship. The state of Oregon mistakenly registered 1,260 possible noncitizens to vote. And in California, noncitizens received voter registration forms in the mail.

But Democrats will tell you we don’t need the SAVE Act.

The SAVE Act would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, and it passed the House in July. All but five Democrats voted against it, and Senate Majority Leader Schumer refuses to take it up.

Democrats are so passionate about allowing noncitizens to vote that the Biden-Harris Administration is now suing Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen for removing noncitizens from Alabama’s voter rolls.

One of the greatest responsibilities Americans have is our right to vote. As an American citizen, casting a ballot is a civic duty and a unique privilege. For naturalized citizens, this is a reward after tireless work, patience, and dedication put into the process of becoming a citizen.

We should never tarnish that process by allowing noncitizens to vote.

That’s why I supported the SAVE Act, and why I continue to fight to secure our southern border and end the invasion of our communities. I recently co-sponsored the Remain in Mexico Act of 2024, which would restore President Trump’s policy that requires migrants to wait in Mexico while their asylum claims are processed.

As a strong advocate for border security and election integrity, I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that only American citizens vote in American elections.
