Colorado — the second-tier battleground state that has sided with the White House victor in the last four presidential elections — looks antsy once again.
Ten months after reelecting President Obama, Colorado voters seem ornery and itching for a change, issuing its incumbent Democratic governor harsh marks and providing gleams of hope for the GOP’s 2016 roster.
These are some of the most favorable numbers of the year for GOP presidential candidates in a quasi-battleground state.
All according to Quinnipiac University . . .
The takeaways:
- Hillary Clinton and Chris Christie are in a virtual dead-heat; 43 percent for Christie, 42 percent for Clinton
- Ted Cruz (!) is also in the game with Clinton, trailing her by only 3 points, 45 percent to 42 percent
- Joe Biden not only gets stomped by Christie — 50 percent to 33 percent (which arguably feels like an outlier) — he loses to CRUZ, 45 percent to 39 percent
Favorability ratings in Colorado:
- Clinton 51%
- Christie 50%
- Biden 40%
- Cruz 26% (58 percent haven’t heard enough)
This is either some of the best news the GOP has seen all year, or a bad poll sampling.
