The Iron Bowl is being held this season at Jordan-Hare Stadium in a game that the Alabama Crimson Tide is likely now going to need to win in order to make the SEC Championship game and College Football Playoff after falling to Oklahoma this past weekend.
That goal for Alabama might have just gotten even tougher with the announcement of kickoff time.
For the first time since 2014, the historic rivalry is going to kick off under the lights at 6:30 p.m. CST rather than the usual 2:30 p.m. CST that fans have become accustomed to.
The Tide has won the last five straight editions of the Iron Bowl, their longest streak in the game since the longest in history, nine consecutive from 1973-1981.
But the last two on The Plains have each required small miracles to get out alive and almost always, the game is competitive when played at Auburn.
While the Tigers try to play spoiler and grab their first win since 2019, the pressure will be squarely on Alabama as they try to simply survive November and advance to the next portion of their season.
It should be an all-timer — and now it’s going to be under the lights as well.
