While en route to the Super Bowl in New Orleans, President Donald Trump signed a proclamation declaring Sunday as ‘Gulf of America Day.’ The order was appropriately signed as Air Force One flew over the newly named body of water.
“Today, I am very honored to recognize February 9, 2025, as the first-ever Gulf of America Day,” Trump’s proclamation read. “I took this action in part because, as stated in that Order, “the area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has long been an integral asset to our once burgeoning Nation and has remained an indelible part of America.”

On hand for the historic occasion were several elected officials including Alabama Senators Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt. The two lawmakers, who received personal invitations from Trump to travel on Air Force One, have become among the most supportive of the President’s second-term agenda in Washington D.C.
Tuberville posted a photo of himself and Britt along with another including Ivanka Trump during the plane ride on X and wished everyone a happy ‘Gulf of America Day.’

Trump is the first sitting President to ever attend the Super Bowl since it first kicked off in 1967.
