President Donald Trump has selected U.S. Senator Katie Britt to lead a federal delegation to the Uruguayan presidential inauguration of Yamandú Orsi. The event, scheduled for Saturday in the city of Montevideo, will be attended by several high-ranking dignitaries from around the globe.
Britt (R-Montgomery) expressed her gratitude towards the President for his decision to place her at the forefront of the group.
“On behalf of President Trump and our nation, I am excited to be leading the United States’ delegation to Uruguay’s presidential inauguration,” said Britt. “It was a very humbling moment to be selected by President Trump to lead this presidential delegation, and I am honored he has entrusted me with the responsibility to do this.”

The Senator revealed that she will be meeting with Orsi and also praised Uruguay’s stability in a chaotic region.
“As the head of the delegation, I will meet with the incoming President to offer our nation’s congratulations and warm wishes and express our strong commitment to this crucial bilateral relationship. Uruguay has proven herself one of the world’s strongest democracies and is a stable ally in an unstable neighborhood there in South America.”
