The college football season is almost here, and the latest sign came Monday afternoon with the release of the preseason AP Top 25 poll.
Fans now know which number will show next to their team — if they’re lucky enough to be ranked — during the first week of the season.
Though it does not look a whole lot different from last week’s coaches poll, it does include 10 teams from the SEC including a new face at the very top.

For the first time in program history, the Texas Longhorns take the No. 1 spot in preseason, trailed by Penn State and Ohio State at No. 2 and No. 3. Clemson and Georgia round out the top-five.
After Georgia, eight additional teams from the SEC cracked the list, but only two in the top-ten with Alabama and LSU coming in at No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
South Carolina and Florida round out the top-five at No. 13 and No. 14 with the Michigan Wolverines in between them at No. 14.

In the top-20, Oklahoma and Texas A&M come in at No. 18 and No. 19, while Ole Miss and Tennessee narrowly crack the rankings and come in at No. 21 and No. 24.
Other SEC teams receiving votes but not making the top-25 included both Auburn and Missouri.
Just a few weeks from now, these rankings are going to be put to the test during an absolutely epic slate of week one games.
