Poll: Ivey ranked Southeast’s most popular governor; 7th highest approval rating in U.S.

Gov. Kay Ivey holds the highest approval rating of all governors in the Southeast, according to a Morning Consult survey published Tuesday.

Boasting an impressive 60% approval rating of her job performance, Ivey is the nation’s most popular female governor and the seventh most popular chief executive in the United States.

The survey was conducted July 1 through Sept. 30 and consisted of representative samples of registered voters in each state. The results hold a margin of error of +/- 5%.

The data found by Morning Consult, one of the nation’s most respected research and intelligence firms, nearly mirrors that concluded by the firm in May, proving Ivey’s favorability among Alabama’s constituency to be consistent. Alabama’s 54th governor rose two spots from the firm’s last survey.

In a statement to Yellowhammer News, Ivey spokeswoman Gina Maiola advised that the governor had “a bold vision” for Alabama in her second full term as chief executive.

“Governor Ivey is a get-the-job done, people first kind of leader, and Alabamians recognize that about her,” said Maiola. “She remains totally grateful to them for giving her the honor of serving as governor. She believes in this state and has a bold vision going into the next four years, and I fully expect that she will take the bull by the horns and aggressively work to accomplish big goals for Alabama.”

Ivey emerged as the overwhelming favorite among Republican voters in May’s gubernatorial primary election, receiving more than 55% of all votes cast.
