Alabama’s political leaders are showing their support for the nation of Israel in its effort to destroy Iran’s nuclear program.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced “Operation Rising Lion” Friday, which included air strikes and other military offensives deep in Iran. Israel argued the strikes were necessary because Iran was dangerously close to developing a nuclear weapon.
Since Friday, Iran has launched large-scale missile and drone strikes at Tel Aviv, Haifa, Bat Yam, and several other cities, resulting in at least 24 Israeli deaths and dozens of injuries.
Alabama will always proudly stand with Israel! 🇮🇱

A nuclear-armed Iran is a threat to the entire world, and especially to our friend and ally, Israel. As the Israeli people fight for their very existence, I am praying for the safety of their people and their country.

The Alabama Israel Legislative Caucus, co-chaired by State Reps. David Faulkner (R-Mountain Brook) and Phillip Insler (D-Montgomery), released a statement saying, “We stand firmly with Israel as it strives to destroy these significant threats to its safety and security.”
“We pray for the success of Israel’s operations, for the safety of its soldiers and civilians, and for the ultimate elimination of Iran’s ability to carry out attacks against Israel. Iran’s repeated promises to destroy Israel — especially if it were to acquire a nuclear weapon — cannot be tolerated by a peace-loving world.
We also call upon the United States to remain a strong and unfaltering ally to Israel in this moment of danger. At the same time, we hope and pray for a future in which peace prevails — a peace forged by the removal of existential threats and a collective understanding that violence must come to an end.”
Over the weekend, both Israel and Iran trade strikes against each other as tensions continue to rise in the conflict.
