U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) is seeking more information surrounding the Special Counsel’s decision not to prosecute President Joe Biden over his mishandling of classified documents.
Special Counsel Robert Hur released his report last week, declining to prosecute the president because of his “diminished capacities” including memory loss, which would make it difficult for a jury to convict him beyond a reasonable doubt.
Palmer reacted to the report, saying it’s proof that Biden is not longer “fit for the White House.”
How can the American people believe their President is fit for the White House when his own poor memory was a reason the DOJ chose not to prosecute him? pic.twitter.com/iSKpU4mf0u

Biden held a press conference Thursday denying the accusation that he suffers from significant memory loss or mental decline.

Palmer said he’s not taking Biden at his word and is now asking for the Special Counsel interview with the president to be released to the public.
“The White House has vehemently denied this characterization and has disparaged the intentions of Mr. Hur. President Biden’s personal attorney has said the treatment of his memory in the report was nether ‘accurate or appropriate.’ This level of response from the White House seeks to change the narrative of the President seen in the report,” Palmer said. “The most logical step from the White House should be to release the full recordings of President Biden’s deposition so the American people can listen for themselves. If the White House’s pushback against Hur’s narrative is correct, then why are they blocking the release of the recordings and transcript?”
The congressman compared the case to the ongoing prosecution against former President Donald Trump, who is also being accused of mishandling classified documents.
“If President Biden is as mentally fit as the White House claims,” he said, “the president should stand trial. He willfully and knowingly violated the law by possessing classified materials as a private citizen. All this stands in stark contrast to the DOJ’s political persecution of President Trump.”
If the White House believes Hur's characterization of Biden's cognitive state is false, why are they blocking the release of the recordings and transcript from Biden's deposition?
