Oregon head coach Dan Lanning, who was the presumptive frontrunner to be Alabama’s next head coach since Nick Saban’s earthshaking retirement announcement, announced this afternoon that he’s returning to Oregon.
With Lanning’s name scratched off the list, a couple of choices remain on top of the stack.
The two most likely candidates at time of post seems to be Florida State’s Mike Norvell and Washington’s Kalen DeBoer, according to news reports and insider analysis.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin’s name has received very little buzz while Texas’ Steve Sarkisian, former Alabama offensive coordinator, remains a possible candidate as well.
Jimmy Sexton was seen entering the Mal Moore athletic facility this afternoon.
Sexton is not only Nick Saban’s agent, but the agent of DeBoer, Norvell, Sarkisian, Kiffin, and Kirby Smart as well.
