House District 63 encompasses much of downtown Tuscaloosa, including the University of Alabama, and has historically been considered critical for representing the city’s priorities in Montgomery.
The House District 63 seat will soon be vacated by State Rep. Cynthia Almond (R-Tuscaloosa), who has been selected by Governor Kay Ivey to lead the Public Service Commission. Almond is expected to officially resign from the seat on June 15.
The Governor will announce the date of the special election to fill the vacancy in the coming weeks.
