Nicole Jones Wadsworth is still running for Lt. Governor of Alabama in 2026.

At a recent campaign stop in Huntsville, Wadsworth expressed confidence that she’ll somehow come out on top.

“Any of you who know me or know my race, it became really libelous, really quickly.”

Wadsworth is seemingly making a reference to her botched campaign launch in which it was discovered that she doesn’t have a PhD in Economics from the University of Alabama as she claimed, but rather, a different degree from an unaccredited online school.

“I have somebody who is running for an open seat who feels entitled to the office, and he has done everything that he could to try to get me out.”

“Well guess what? He’s gonna get beat by a girl,” Wadsworth said to a room of nervous laughter.

It is unclear who or what Jones is referring to.

A request for clarification to her campaign by Yellowhammer News on Monday evening went unreturned at time of post.

Wadsworth is running against two high-profile incumbents, Secretary of State Wes Allen and Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate.
