Nick Saban to write foreword in former U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s memoir

Legendary former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban continues to expand his post-coaching portfolio — this time as a published writer.

It was announced by St. Martin’s Press this week that the upcoming memoir from former U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia will feature a foreword written by Saban.

The book, entitled “Dead Center: In Defense of Common Sense” is scheduled to release this upcoming September, and perhaps the inclusion of writing from Saban will help sales and bring it to a wider audience.

Manchin and Saban have been very good friends for a long time, each hailing from the state of West Virginia. Their friendship has lasted through the years and each has always spoken glowingly about the other.

The release of the memoir comes after Manchin chose not to seek reelection after what was a decade and a half in the United States Senate.

Though Manchin ran on the Democratic ticket throughout his career, he broke away from the party in recent years and even registered as an independent in 2024.

His close friendship with Saban has the potential to make his book extremely readable to Alabamians ahead of the September release. Pre-orders for a hard cover or Kindle version of the book are available on Amazon.
