President Donald Trump has taken more of an active role in trying to help the chaos in college sports throughout the first year of his second administration, and the latest step could be him getting in a room with some of the most powerful figures in this world.
According to a story from Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, Trump is hosting a roundtable scheduled for next week to discuss issues in collegiate athletics with as many as 40 people invited.
Invitees include all conference commissioners from the Power Four, university presidents, as well as both current and former ADs from across the country, and, of course, coaches.
Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and Mack Brown are all on the list as are former star athletes such as Tim Tebow.
Interestingly, pro golfers such as Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau are on the list, as is former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice.
Committee vice chairs include both Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and New York Yankees president Randy Levine.
Trump made headlines last week when he appeared on Josh Pate’s show to talk NIL, and clearly he is trying to take steps to address it as Congress has been unable to pass legislation to this point.
What that eventual legislation — likely in the realm of antitrust protections — looks like remains to be seen, but the President is certainly trying to make things happen by getting everyone in a room together.
