The Nature Conservancy in Alabama has selected five members for its Board of Trustees for the 2023-2024 year, the organization announced Monday.
The five new members, who will be joining the other 20 board members, were chosen from across the state representing various industries. The overall goal of the board, it says, is to support the organization through “governance, fiscal contributions, and community advocacy.”
“TNC and our successful efforts are nothing without those who support us, specifically our trustees who provide unprecedented leadership and support to our statewide conservation efforts,” said TNC’s State Director Mitch Reid. “We applaud our new trustees’ willingness to be part of our mission to protect Alabama’s land and water for the betterment of its people and the natural communities that surround us.”
The new board members are:
- Eve Brantley — director and professor, Auburn University
- Chris Head — manager–Environmental Protection, Poarch Band of Creek Indians
- Elica Moss — assistant professor, Alabama A&M University
- Harris Parker — vice president sales officer, Bank Independent
- Emily Terry — salesforce portfolio owner, Digital Ocean
“Our trustees are a diverse group of community leaders from across Alabama who are committed to the mission and values of the Conservancy and who bring a variety of high-level skills, talents, experiences and backgrounds to the Chapter and to the Conservancy organization through their volunteer services,” said Board Chair Brian Ethridge, Birmingham Region president for River Bank & Trust.
“The skills and backgrounds collectively represented on the Chapter Board should reflect the diverse nature of the environments and communities in which the Alabama Chapter operates.”
