The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon for the second year in a row at Neville Arena on The Plains, and head coach Nate Oats was feeling himself after the victory.
Oats was asked after the game about his guard Aden Holloway — who transferred to Alabama from Auburn — being booed by Tigers fans throughout the game, and he let those same fans have it a little bit.
“Charles [Bediako] took a little bit off of [Holloway] today,” Oats said with a grin. “I think he’s fine, I talked to him before both these games [the last two seasons in Neville Arena] and he’s not bothered by it, knew it was coming. That’s what they do. But they were pretty quiet when we left today. The best way to quiet them is to win on the scoreboard. They were quiet last year, they were quiet this year. He’s 2-0 coming back here, so pretty good record for him coming back into Neville.”
Holloway had a nice afternoon with 15 points and four assists, and leaving Auburn with another victory has to feel even a little bit sweeter than a regular win following him hearing it from the crowd all afternoon.
