Wednesday morning brought one of the best events of the year to the Magic City with the annual Regions Tradition pro-am at Greystone Golf and Country Club.
Bringing some of the most notable folks in college sports, politics, and even country music to play in the tournament with professionals on the Champions Tour.
One of those who has been in attendance regular was Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats, but it turned out fans in attendance should not have expected a ton from Oats’ golf game.
The coach shared a hilarious and relatable line about his goals for the golf course being similar to his goals during basketball games for his high flying offense:
Nate Oats: “My goal in coaching and my goal in golf is very similar – 100 is the number. We’re trying to get to 100 … and if we don’t to get to 100, I’m a little disappointed. My goal in golf is similar, it’s just I’m trying to get down to 100 instead of up to 100.” pic.twitter.com/NCeeD8XcBO

“My goal in coaching and my goal in golf is very similar — 100 is the number. We’re trying to get to 100,” Oats quipped. “If we don’t to get to 100, I’m a little disappointed. My goal in golf is similar, it’s just I’m trying to get down to 100 instead of up to 100…which isn’t very good obviously my golf game stinks…but if I can be over 100 in coaching and under 100 in golf, that’s the number.”
“I’m not a very good golfer, so 100 is the number.”
Hopefully, Oats’ teams continue to put up over 100 as they have done so many times the last couple of seasons and in an ideal world, his golf game would get down to that figure as well.
