A Wiregrass native accused in an alleged murder-for-hire plot in the Bahamas will not stand trial until next year, marking the fourth delay in the case.
Former Dothan beauty queen Lindsay Shiver is now scheduled to appear in court in Nassau on March 2, 2026, alongside co-defendants Terrence Bethel and Faron Newbold Jr. Her trial was previously set for August 29, 2025, but has been postponed without explanation.
Shiver has remained free on bond while living with her family in the Wiregrass and is permitted to travel to Georgia to visit her children. Bethel and Newbold Jr. are also out on bond.
The three were arrested in July 2023 after Bahamian investigators said WhatsApp messages linked them to a plan to kill Shiver’s husband, Robert. Authorities claim the evidence included photos of Robert Shiver and the message, “Kill him.”
The communications were discovered during an unrelated break-in investigation on Guana, when police searched a suspect’s phone.
Court proceedings have faced multiple interruptions. In late October 2024, Shiver and Bethel were briefly returned to custody after a judge determined they violated restrictions on pre-trial publicity by appearing on Good Morning America and Inside Edition.
Bail was later reinstated. During the GMA segment, Bethel insisted both he and Shiver were innocent, calling the case overblown.
