Mountain Brook High School has been named as a top-five overall athletics program in the country by popular high school sports site MaxPreps in their 2023-24 MaxPreps Cup.
The Spartans came in at No. 5 on the list after fall state championships in girls volleyball, boys cross country, and girls cross country along with winter state championships in wrestling and girls indoor track as well as a runner-up finish in boys basketball.
On top of all that, Mountain Brook had a massive spring, being named state champions in boys tennis, girls soccer, girls tennis, and girls track.
This resulted in them being the only school in Alabama ranked in the top 40, with Hoover at No. 42, Scottsboro at No. 47, Vestavia Hills at No. 75, and Hewitt-Trussville at No. 84.
“This is certainly a significant recognition and I’m very happy for our student-athletes and coaches for all the success we were able to have last year,” MBHS Athletic Director Andy Urban said. “Ultimately, our goal is to provide the best experience for our kids and our programs. This recognition shows that the commitment our coaches display throughout the year paired with the dedication our athletes have to their sport and adding on the support we receive from our parents and community, Mountain Brook Spartan Athletics is the standard.”
