Mountain Brook City Schools earned one of Alabama’s highest state report card grades for the 2024-2025 school year, receiving an overall score of 99, according to data released by the Alabama Department of Education.

The district celebrated the achievement on its official Instagram page, commending students, educators, and administrators across all six schools.

According to the report card, each Mountain Brook school earned either a 99 or a perfect 100, with performance measures including academic achievement, academic growth, graduation rate, and college and career readiness. The district posted a 97.8% CCR rate, which reflects factors such as ACT benchmarks, advanced coursework, industry credentials, and other postsecondary preparation measures.

City leaders also praised the accomplishment. Mountain Brook Mayor Graham Smith said the results affirm the district’s reputation for excellence.

“Mountain Brook Schools have once again demonstrated why they are among the finest in Alabama. Earning a 99 on the state report card—and with all six of our schools scoring either a 99 or a perfect 100—is an extraordinary achievement. These results reflect not only exceptional academic performance and growth, but also a deep commitment to preparing our students for life beyond the classroom. With a remarkable 97.8% college and career readiness rate, Mountain Brook has truly passed with flying colors. I couldn’t be more proud of our students, educators, families, and the entire community that supports this tradition of excellence. Go Spartans!”

Superintendent Dr. Dicky Barlow told Yellowhammer News the rating reflects the collaboration that defines the school system. “We are always grateful for the work our students, teachers and parents put forward to ensure a quality educational experience for all of our stakeholders. We are fortunate to be surrounded by an engaged, eager and committed learning community here in Mountain Brook.”
