Moore to Garland: ‘Is that a crime when citizens just question an election?’

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore is once again calling out the Biden administration for what he believes is the “weaponization of government” against the American people.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland was questioned during Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing when Moore (R-Enterprise) asked if it’s legal for Americans to question election results.

“Is that a crime to question an election in the United States of America?” Moore asked. “Is it a crime for U.S. citizens to say ‘we want to ask about this election, we want to question this election, we actually want to look into the election,’ is that a crime when citizens just question an election in America now.”

Garland said in response, “no, it’s not a crime to question an election.”

The congressman brought up the issue because former President Donald Trump was indicted in Georgia for what prosecutors there say was a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.

Moore told Garland that he was one American who had issues with the last election.

“I questioned the election results in 2020, and there are a lot of people in America that do,” he said. “And they question the weaponization of government attacking American citizens.”

Moore also reiterated to Garland that his constituents are extremely concerned about recent action by Biden’s DOJ.

“Every time I’m in my district constituents are concerned about the weaponization of government,” he said. “Them being selected because they happened to be conservatives. And I think on your watch now the DOJ actually is in the mid-30% approval rating. And every time the DOJ goes after Trump he goes up in the polls. I think the American people are waking up to what’s going on and I think it’s fairly obvious.”
