Moore, Strong vote to impeach DHS Sec. Mayorkas for ‘refusing’ to defend nation

Members of Alabama’s congressional delegation backed articles of impeachment filed against U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.

Rep. Dale Strong said the impeachment of Mayorkas is long over due.

“Joining impeachment articles against Secretary Mayorkas was one of my first official actions as a Member of Congress. I am glad to see an impeachment resolution come to the floor this week,” Strong (R-Monrovia) said.

“Over and over again, Sec. Mayorkas has denied that our nations is facing the worst border crisis we have ever seen but also that the Biden Administration’s policies are directly putting millions of Americans at risk.”

Rep. Strong said America’s enemies are now taking advantage of the lack of security at the border.

“Fentanyl is pouring into our country and cartels exploit every weak point they can in our southern border. Terrorists and America’s adversaries know just how open our southern border is, yet Secretary Mayorkas refuses to recognize the crisis his policies have created,” said Strong.

“I believe the Secretary is refusing to uphold his oath to defend our nation and therefore he must go.”

Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said he was disappointed Secretary Mayorkas is still in office.

“Under Mayorkas’ watch, there have been 8 million illegal border encounters, 52,900 pounds of fentanyl seized at the border, more than 280 people on terrorist watchlists caught while attempting to cross the border, and 1.8 million known “got aways” who have evaded U.S. authorities,” said Moore.

“In the private sector, if you don’t do your job, you get fired. Mayorkas’ failure to do his job is putting Americans in grave danger every day, and it’s past time for him to be impeached.”
