Montgomery man will attempt to break his own free throw record for a good cause

A Montgomery man is preparing to break his own record for the most free throws made in a 24-hour period. His record currently stands at an impressive 20,500 shots.

Matt Bostic, president of The Life House in Alabama, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the high rates of re-incarceration among those in the criminal justice system through rehabilitation, will attempt to surpass his previous milestone by making 22,000 free throws.

He says his goal is to symbolize the 22,000 individuals who were re-incarcerated over the past year.

“Basketball has been a part of my life forever and if I can do something that I love for somebody that I love, it’s what stirs the passion inside of me and makes me want to get out of bed every single morning,” Bostic told WSFA. “Last time I shot 91 percent for the 24 hours, so we’re hoping to bump that up a little bit to hopefully make 22,000.”

The event will be held at the St. James Church in Montgomery from 3:00 p.m. CST on Friday through 3:00 p.m. CST on Saturday.
