Prism Systems, a technology company with a global portfolio, is relocating its headquarters and lab operations to downtown Mobile.
The company will move into 857 Dauphin Street, the former site of Crown Hall.
According to the Mobile Chamber, the $6.4 million project will add 52 high-wage jobs.
“Mobile has always been the foundation of our success,” said Keith Jones, CEO and owner of Prism Systems.
“By deepening our roots here, we’re investing not only in the city’s future but also in the talent, technology, and creativity that define our company. The new downtown location offers increased visibility and allows us to lean into our high-tech legacy.
According to the company, after years of growing in other locations, the new flagship office will allow them to attract top talent to Mobile.
“Attracting the best and brightest engineers from elite colleges requires so much more than just interesting work. They care where they live, they want to work where they can walk to dining and entertainment, and they need to feel like they are in a tech environment surrounded by innovative people. We are excited to be a part of the downtown tech revolution,” Jones said.
Under Jones’ leadership, the company has expanded its global footprint with engineering offices in Los Angeles, Orlando, Beijing, and Shanghai, along with two manufacturing facilities in Washington County, Alabama.
Despite its global reach, the company remains rooted in Mobile.
“Prism Systems has long been one of our region’s quiet giants in the tech and automation world,” said Bradley Byrne, president and CEO of the Mobile Chamber.
“Bringing their headquarters to the heart of downtown Mobile strengthens our innovation economy, supports high-skill, high-wage jobs, and builds on our momentum as a tech-forward community.”
City and county leaders praised the company’s decision to reinvest in the local community and contribute to downtown’s revitalization.
“Prism is proving that all kinds of businesses can thrive in Mobile,” said Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson.
“While our area is gaining a strong reputation for advanced manufacturing, Prism represents a growing trend of tech-driven companies creating high-wage jobs in our community. This move is a win-win for the company, its employees and downtown Mobile, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.”
“Prism Systems operates globally, and its choice to grow here speaks volumes about our local tech sector and workforce capacity,” added Mobile County Commission President Merceria Ludgood. “Mobile County Commission is proud to see this homegrown company expanding in downtown, creating or retaining nearly 100 high-paying jobs and, perhaps most importantly, keeping top-tier talent right here at home.”
Construction is expected to begin in September, with the transition to the new headquarters projected for April 2026.
