U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) believes a surefire way the federal government can drain the swamp is to move much of the federal workforce out of Washington D.C.
President Donald Trump campaigned on moving 100 thousand jobs outside of the D.C. area. It is believed this could be action eventually taken by the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is being headed by Elon Musk.
Rogers told WVNN’s “The Dale Jackson Show,” that he hopes Congress will help Trump and Musk in this effort.
“[T]here is going to be a concerted effort by this administration and the Congress to move some of the federal jobs out of Washington, because this place really is culturally unique and different from the rest of the country, Rogers said. “We need people that are running these agencies to be headquartered out in the real world and not in the D.C. capital region, because it is just not the real world up here, that it is woke is an understatement for what the culture is like up here.”
Rogers, who chairs the House Armed Services Committee, discussed what moving the workforce would look like.
“So I do want to see us push more of the federal jobs — and we need these jobs — I mean, they do things that are important. Whether it’s Treasury, FBI, whatever, they just don’t have to be in D.C.,” Rogers said.
“We’re a technological country. We can do things with technology now that we couldn’t do back when these things were first put here. And I do think Trump is focused on doing that.”

Rogers doesn’t expect the changes to be implemented immediately, but hopes it can get done while Republicans have control of Congress.
“You’ll see that’s obviously not one of the things he’s going to work on in the first 100 days,” he explained. “But you watch and year two, three and four, there’s going to be a concerted effort to disperse a lot of the leadership of federal agencies and departments to other parts of the country.”
