U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) said he hopes this coming weekend will be the last time Americans have to change their clocks for Daylight Savings Time.
Rogers recently reintroduced legislation that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent. In 2025, Daylight Savings begins on Sunday March 9th and would end on Sunday November 2nd.
“I am proud to have reintroduced legislation to allow states to remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round,” Rogers said. “Changing our clocks twice a year is unnecessary and an outdated nuisance, furthermore, remaining on Daylight Saving Time could have tremendous benefits for the economy and people’s health.”

Rogers is following the lead of Governor Kay Ivey who signed a law passed through the Alabama state legislature in 2021 that would direct the state to remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round.
Rogers’ bill is needed due to The Uniform Time Act of 1966, which bars states from deciding whether to remain on Daylight Saving Time independently.

“The people of Alabama have spoken, and they want to stay on Daylight Saving Time year-round,” Rogers said. “My legislation allows our state and many more to do just that.”
U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) has been pushing this in the Senate as well by reintroducing his “Sunshine Protection Act” that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent.
“It’s one of the top issues,” Tuberville said recently on WBRC Fox News 6. “I keep hearing from people all over Alabama and all over the country ask about it everywhere I go. I think we’re all tired of switching our clocks back and forth.”
In just a few weeks, Americans will lose an hour of sleep as we “spring forward” into Daylight Saving Time.
This should be the LAST time we have to change our clocks.
