The clock may have struck midnight at Denny Chimes, but it didn’t strike midnight for the Crimson Tide.
The Alabama baseball team continued its post-season past the midnight hour Sunday, beating Boston College 8-0 in the Tuscaloosa Regional NCAA tournament.
The win, coming after a lengthy rain delay, propels Alabama (43-19) to its first Super Regionals since 2010.

This season, along with the success, the Tide faced more than its fair share of adversity and controversy.
The win over Boston College came exactly a month after the Crimson Tide’s head coach, Brad Bohannon, was fired for allegedly violating NCAA rules against sports wagering.
However, rather than fold, the team has embraced the moment and it seems to be paying off by winning 13 of 17 games under interim coach Jason Jackson. The Tide’s 43 wins is the most for the team since 2006 when they won 44 games.
Alabama is now headed to the Winston-Salem Super Regional where they will face a talented, No.1 national seed Wake Forest team (50-10). The winner will advance to the College World Series.
“… Wake has a great ballclub,” said Jackson. “I haven’t started looking at them but if you follow scores throughout the year … I know they have some really, really talented arms and they’ve got some guys who can swing the bat.
“There’s a reason they’re the No. 1 overall seed.”
Alabama and Wake Forest will play Friday or Saturday at a yet to be determined time, but, most likely before midnight.
