Michael Flynn endorses Mike Durant for U.S. Senate — ‘Alabama doesn’t need another career politician’

Tuesday, Republican U.S. Senate hopeful Mike Durant announced that his campaign had landed the endorsement of retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.

Flynn served as the nation’s 25th national security adviser in the administration of former President Donald Trump and was previously the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Prior to Durant’s entry into Alabama’s U.S. Senate race, Flynn had endorsed the candidacy of U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville).

In announcing Flynn’s endorsement of his Senate bid, Durant likened his standing as a “political outsider” to Trump and U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), who were also first-time candidates for public office.

“I’m thankful to have General Flynn’s support and to have him on our team. General Flynn is right — Alabama doesn’t need another career politician,” declared Durant. “I’m running to serve another tour because we need more political outsiders like myself, President Trump and Coach Tuberville to shake up Washington and change business as usual. Together, we’ll beat the career politicians and deliver on the America First agenda.”

In a letter outlining his endorsement of Durant, Flynn hailed the “Black Hawk Down” Army aviator for his military service and private sector experience as a Huntsville defense contractor.

“Mike Durant is a battle tested patriot who puts political correctness aside and country above all else. That’s exactly what we need in the United States Senate and why I am proud to endorse his campaign,” wrote Flynn.

“Mike’s career in the Army and in building a business provides him with the unique background no career politician can bring to the Senate,” he added. “Just as important, Mike is a solid, 100% Trump-tough conservative. He’s got what it takes to stop the insane vaccine mandates and Biden’s march towards socialism. He’s 100% pro-life, will defend our constitutional 2nd Amendment rights, and finish Trump’s wall. And Mike will take on the pathetic leadership of Joe Biden on Day One.”

Flynn concluded, “Alabama doesn’t need another career politician. I strongly and wholeheartedly endorse Mike Durant to be the outsider needed to represent Alabama in the United States Senate.”
