Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall already has an idea of how former President Donald Trump can make a positive difference after his election victory. Fire the current U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland.
“It’s time,” Marshall said on X, posting a clip from his 2023 inaugural address.
The video showed the part of Marshall’s speech where he said, “and frankly Merrick Garland needs to pack up and get out of here.”

Marshall has been a vocal critic against Garland, believing he has politicized his position and weaponized the DOJ against Trump.
“President Biden’s attempt to use courts to stop his political rival from criticizing Biden’s DOJ is a stunning assault on First Amendment freedoms,” Marshall said earlier this year. “The American people deserve to hear from the presumptive Republican nominee for President of the United States on issues facing our country, including the Biden Administration’s possible misuse of law enforcement to target his political rivals. Biden’s requested gag order is a desperate and shocking attempt to silence Trump and skew the election.”
Marshall celebrated Trump’s victory early Wednesday morning as well, saying he was “thrilled,” to see the Yellowhammer State support the former President.
“I am thrilled to see our country rediscover tonight what my fellow Alabamians never forgot—our love for the US of A and what made us great to begin with!” He said. “Alabama will now have a partner, not an antagonist, back in the White House! Let’s go!”
